Fidel Update - Daddy's Getting Better

Reuters (via NewsMax) reports that "Fidelito" - Castro's eldest son - has claimed that is dad is recovering:

The eldest son of Cuban leader Fidel Castro said on Monday his father is recovering from an unspecified illness that has forced him to temporarily give up power he held since a 1959 communist revolution.

But Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, better known in Cuba as "Fidelito," did not answer when asked if his father would be well enough to attend a December 2 public celebration of his 80th birthday. "The only thing I can tell you is that he is recovering," the younger Castro told Reuters before quickly walking away.

If this is true, Ana Veciana-Suarez (Miami Herald) may have to wait. This is how she reacted to news of Fidel's impending death:

"Ding dong...the witch will be dead"

"For most Cuban-Americans my age, the impending death of Fidel Castro is like the winning lottery ticket in the back pocket -- an almost but not quite happening. Now U.S. government sources say the dictator has about 18 months to live.Delay the celebration. I'll believe it at the funeral."

We'll all wait with her.
